Julian Lang 2019

It is with great sadness that the family of Julian Lang announce his passing on July 11, 2019, at the age of 97 years. Julian was born in a small village called Rozanka in Southeastern Poland. He was the youngest of 15 children.
Julian will be forever remembered by his three loving children, Henry (Krystyna) Lang, Ted (Helen) Lang, and Helen (Chris) McKernan; 10 grandchildren, Jessica, Chris, Paul (Jamee) Lang; Allison, Michael Kathleen, Kevin Lang; Timothy (Leni), Gregory (Valerie), Kent (Erika) McKernan; and four great-grandchildren, Aiden, Rowen Lang; Lana and Tara McKernan. Julian was predeceased by his loving wife, Janina in 2018.
On February 10, 1940, he was displaced with his mother and brother to Siberia. Julian enlisted with the Polish Forces on March 24, 1942 and fought under British Command. His path took him from Iran to Iraq, Palestine, Egypt and then to Italy, where he was part of the Heavy Artillery Division in the Battle of Monte Cassino. Surviving WWII, he made his way to Edinburgh, Scotland, prior to arriving in Canada on July 1, 1947.
Julian settled in the Edmonton area starting a career of hauling lumber with his brand new 1949 GMC truck. In early 1951 he met his future wife, Janina Kuzio. They married November 24, 1951 and spent 66 wonderful years together.
Julian later moved on to work with the Provincial Government where he retired after 26 years of service.
Julian was a kind, compassionate man who lived for his family and would give help to all who asked. He became very involved in the Polish Community where he was instrumental in the building of the Polish Hall and Holy Rosary Parish.
Julian was a very PROUD WWII Veteran, with many experiences and hardships endured throughout his journey. The world is a safer, better place thanks to his service. He was a loving partner and father to his family.
The children and their families, thank the Allen Gray Continuing Care Centre for their kind and compassionate care during Dad’s residency.
