Obituary of Christine Montgomery
MONTGOMERY, CHRISTINE
May 29, 1953 – July 4, 2019
Christine passed away peacefully on July 4, 2019 with her family by her side. Born, into a loving family in county Durham, England, she was predeceased by her parents Thomas and Elizabeth Carr. Christine went to college in Sheffield, England where she met and fell in love with Ed Montgomery and they married in 1975. Her daughter Laura was born in 1982 and later that year the family moved to Regina. Her son Ian was born in Regina in 1985.
Christine had a great laugh and was well known for her fits of the giggles which usually had you laughing before you knew what she was laughing about. Christine was also known for her gluten free Yorkshire puddings which were the main attraction for weekly Sunday dinners with family and visitors. She was very proud of her children and grandchildren Mae and Gus. Christine also had lots of stories to entertain her kids and grandchildren. A favourite was about the Sun and the Wind. She always put herself last and enjoyed the gift of giving more than receiving. Christine dearly loved her four sisters and talked with them every week. In recent times, she was greatly admired for her courage and resilience as her cancer progressed.
In Regina, Christine worked at SIAST and the Regina Public School Board before retiring six years ago. In retirement, Christine enjoyed many holidays in Canada, Mexico and England.
Left to cherish Christine’s memory are her husband Ed; her daughter Laura (Andrew); her son Ian (Kerrin); her grandchildren Mae and Gus; her sisters Sandra (Steve), Carol (Mike), Susan (Stuart) and Deb (Derek); her-sisters-in law Florence and Heather (Trevor); her brother-in-law Ivan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In keeping with Christine’s wishes, no funeral service was held. Christine was cremated on July 9, 2019 attended by immediate family. Christine’s ashes will be scattered in county Durham, England and in Canada.
Christine’s family would like to thank Dr. Zarkovich and the other oncologists and associates who treated her at the Allan Blair Cancer Centre and all the wonderful staff and nurses working in the Centre who have given her such great care over the past eight years. You have all made a very difficult time easier and we are very grateful.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Christine
