Obituary for
Roland Andre Dubois
Roland (Rolly) Dubois
Roland (Rolly) Dubois of Fort Frances, Ontario peacefully passed away on July 22, 2018 with loved ones by his side. He was born in Winnipeg, MB on September 21, 1949 and was the oldest son of eleven children born to Andre and Noella Dubois of St. Malo, MB. He married the love of his life Heather (Burling) on December 5, 1970. He worked as a cement truck driver at Lafarge Concrete Co. in Winnipeg for 25 years. He enjoyed his co-workers and showed it by ribbing, teasing and getting under their skin. They fondly called him Preacher probably for a good reason cause he sure loved to quote scriptures. They were his work family.
Rolly had a zest for life not found in many. He could cheer anyone up and loved to make people smile. His humour and laughter were contagious. He loved country drives, hockey, fishing, the great outdoors and especially those beautiful Manitoba prairies.
He had a strong belief in God. One of his favorite scripture passages were the ten commandments. He believed if you lived by them you would do well in this life.
He loved his family dearly, was kind to everyone and was the best storyteller ever. He was dear ol’ Dad to his kids and GP (short for Grand-pere) to his grandkids. Two of his favorite sayings were….”that’s my story and I’m sticking to it” and after every party or family gathering, “Its been a slice!” which were his last words to his family just before he passed.
Rolly is survived by his wife Heather, his children Rosanne (Sean Ward), Rene (Terry), Sherry (Rick Perrault), Sharon (Tyler Yatchuk), and Mike (Tori). Grandchildren: Chet, Joshua, Luke, Rachel, Zachary, John, Greyson and Asher. Sisters: Gisele, Rose, Claudette, Madeline, Claire, Joanne and brothers: Mike, Emile, Herve and Norman, along with many countless nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Andre and Noella Dubois.
A celebration of life will be held at the Northridge Funeral Home in Emo, ON. On Thursday July 26, 2018 at 4:00 PM with a lunch to follow.
It will be officiated by Rev. Sean Ward. Pallbearers are his two sons: Rene and Mike Dubois, honorary Pallbearers are his two son-in-laws: Tyler Yatchuk and Rick Perrault and his grandsons: Chet, Joshua, Luke, Zachary, John, Greyson and Asher.
He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends. The worlds best had to go a little too soon. It’s been a slice!
