Blyth, Clementine Flora (nee Turgeon)
Peacefully passed away at Cassellholme on July 5, 2019, in her 99th year. Clementine was the beloved wife of the late John Ross Blyth, 52 years married. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Angeline (nee Desilets) Turgeon of North Bay. Clemmie worked for the Department of Land and Forests, for 9 years, the Department of Indian Affairs for 2 years and the Department of Health, (Ontario Hospital) for 14 years until her retirement in 1971. She chose to be a friend to numerous nieces and nephews. She dedicated her life to her husband, home, her volunteer work and her love of travel. Clemmie was a community minded person, volunteering for the Red Cross Blood Clinic for 23 years, the Cancer Clinic and the Civic and St. Joseph’s Hospitals. She was very active in her Holy Name of Jesus Parish and a 64-year member of the Catholic Women’s League. She received the C.W.L Maple Leaf Service Award in recognition of her dedication, commitment and service on March 19, 2012. Clemmie was also a member of the Golden Age Club. She enjoyed crafts, golfing, curling and bowling. Her sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews were always very important to her throughout her life. Predeceased by her first husband Stanley Baine, her sisters Celina, Albertine, Alma, Adrienne, Georgette and her brothers Hector, Joe, Leo, Oscar, Eddy and Eugene. We sincerely thank Dr. Cathers, Dr. Eugene Turgeon (nephew) for their compassionate and outstanding care to Clemmie. A very special thank you to Wendy Jacobs, her sons, Brad and Chris and to Randy and Linda Burgess and to Sister Louise Lafontaine for their constant support of Clemmie. Thank you also to all the caregivers and the Cassellholme staff over her last few years. Visitation at McGuinty Funeral Home (North Bay) on Monday July 22, 2019 from 7 -9 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father Trevor Scarfone at Holy Name of Jesus Church on Tuesday July 23, 2019 at 11 am. Interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Holy Name Church, the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Les Soeurs de l’Assomption de la Sainte Vierge or the North Bay Humane Society would be gratefully appreciated.
