It is with profound sadness that the family of Gonzague Joseph Leblanc “Joe” announces his peaceful passing that occurred on Sunday June 9, 2019 at Ridgewood Veterans Hospital. Joe was born December 25, 1924 to the late Patrick and Claudia (Boudreau) LeBlanc and was the beloved husband of 60 years to the late Bernadette (Melanson) LeBlanc.
Joe was employed as a linesman/foreman with Civic Hydro for 36 years, retiring in 1988. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, bowling, playing darts and trailering at Gagnon Beach for 43 years. He enjoyed going to Tim Horton’s and taking drives in his truck.
Joe will be deeply missed by his daughters Clementine “Connie” (Bruce) Melanson of Quispamsis, Joanne McPhee of Riverview, Carol Armstrong, Rochelle Anderson (Jeff Lingley) and Darlene (John) Carruthers all of Saint John; grandchildren Scott (Tina), Christopher, Michael, Craig (Caroline), Courtney (Alex), Joel (Vanessa), Jacklyn, Kyle (Marci), Jillian and Liam; step-grandchildren Jessica and Jake; great-grandchildren Owen, Hudson and Dane; step-great-grandchildren Austin, Vincent, Riley, Autumn, Dauntee, Dominick and Kai; sister-in-law Edéa LeBlanc; several nieces and nephews. He will be dearly missed by his brother Aurèle (Peggy) LeBlanc and special friend Yvette Gaudet.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Joe was predeceased by his brothers Edward, Gerard, Joseph and Phelias and sisters Marie and Clementine.
The family would like to express our gratitude to all the nurses and staff at Ridgewood Veterans Hospital, for their exceptional care and support of our father during his stay. We would also like to thank the numerous friends of the family from here and away for their compassion, visits, helping hand and genuine love that was given to our father. It meant the world to him and to our family.
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road with visitation on Thursday June 13, 2019 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception on Friday June 14, 2019 at 12:10 p.m. Interment will be held at a later date in Sainte Thérèsa d’Avila Cemetery, Cap Pelé, NB. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or to Ridgewood Veterans Hospital.
