October 22, 1934 – June 14, 2019

The passing of Doreen Elizabeth Lewis of Fredericton, NB occurred on Friday, June 14, 2019 at Windsor Court Retirement Residence.
Born on October 22, 1934 in Saint John, NB, she was the daughter of the late John and Jenet (MacIlroy) Ottem.
Doreen was very gentle person with a lifelong pursuit of helping others.
She worked as a Nurse early in her career at the Montreal Children’s Hospital; she then worked at the Jewish Convalescent Hospital in Laval, the Royal Victoria Hospital, then ran a small nursing home in Montreal and finished her nursing career as a Nurse Manager of 3NE at the DECRH. She loved to travel and enjoyed giving her time to help refugees settle into their life as Canadians, which led to her volunteering with the Red Cross and also the Stepping Stones.

Doreen is survived by her two sons, Mark Lewis of Fredericton, NB and Ciaron Lewis (Andrea DiRuscio) of Penniac, NB; grandson, Justen; nieces, Gwynn Boye and Krista Blaikie.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Margot Payne.

A Celebration of Life will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Sunday, June 23, 2019 at 2 pm with Rev. Robert Langmaid officiating.
Interment will take place in Sunny Bank Cemetery.
For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Canadian Red Cross or the Oromocto SPCA.
