On Monday, May 27, 2019, David Stuart Shuffler entered into the presence of his Saviour with his family by his side. He leaves behind his loving wife Marilyn, and their children Meredith, Madelyn and Daniel. He was a dear brother to Ann, the late James, Elizabeth, Mary and Richard.
Born in Georgetown, Guyana, David immigrated to Canada as a young man. ‘From Tropics to Tundra’, he had a spirit of adventure and thrived on challenges. Laying seismic data on Banks Island in the Arctic, David once came face to face with wolves. Later he worked for several years as the accountant for Athabaska Airways in Prince Albert, SK — a great team player. After moving to Calgary, David started his own company, D.S. Seismic, which proved a successful endeavour. He was a wonderful example to his children, always ready to lend a helping hand to family, siblings, neighbours and strangers alike. David will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Whether driving family to and fro, volunteering at his kids’ schools or dispensing sage advice, family always came first. David was ever a good sport, taking his family on getaways, although he was a home body at heart. He loved chilling with his family and enjoying a good action movie or informative book over a bowl of vanilla ice-cream. David was a self-described information ‘junkie’!
Although we will forever miss him, we know in our hearts that he would want us to carry on with a positive attitude. David was a strong believer who truly loved the Lord and took the commandment “Love thy neighbour” to heart. Spreading some kindness today to those in need would really honour David.
