John McLaurin Sunday June 23rd 2019

McLaurin, John Roy Stillwell
After a long struggle with COPD, through which he managed to (mostly) keep his sense of humour, John passed away at Brampton Civic Hospital on Sunday, June 23, 2019 in his 96th year. Predeceased by his parents John Bates McLaurin 1952 and Mary Elizabeth McLaurin (nee Stillwell) 1983, his brother Peter Stuart McLaurin 2010, and his wife Dora Marion (nee Burgess) 2015. Will be missed by his children Megan Martha Grace (and best friend Caitlin Smith), John Burgess (Tamera) and Andrew Robert (Joanne).
At John’s request there will be no funeral. Many thanks to staff and caregivers at Whispering Pines and Royal Victoria Hospital, Barrie; Bethsaida Retirement Home and Headwaters Health Care Centre E Wing, Orangeville; Hawthorn Woods Care Community and Brampton Civic Hospital ACE unit, Brampton, for looking after our Dad, and also to Telecheck Dufferin for daily chats for over 10 years, much appreciated.
Cremation will take place.
A tree will be planted in memory of John in the Dods & McNair Memorial Forest at the Island Lake Conservation Area, Orangeville. The annual dedication service will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2019 at 2:30 p.m. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.dodsandmcnair.com
