Martha Schier passed away peacefully at Agassiz Seniors Community, with family by her side, on April 28, 2019 in Agassiz, BC at the age of 93. Martha is survived by her Daughter Sharlyn (Joe) Bordeville of Aldergrove, BC, Son Richard (Alma) of Armstrong, BC, Son Ed (Sue) of Chilliwack, BC, Daughter Debbie (Chuck) Goodwin of Chimicum, WA, Son Marvin (Gayle) of Chilliwack, BC, Son-In-Law Phil Duncan of Aldergrove, BC and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Martha is predeceased by her husband Eric, her daughter Darlene, her parents, Jakob and Karoline Depner; six brothers, Oscar, Arnold, Otto, Paul, Ewald and Alfred and one sister Elsa Kruger. Martha was born on March 14, 1926 in Lutzenoff, Poland, she immigrated to Canada, with her brother Oscar in 1949. Their parents joined them in 1950. She married Eric Schier in 1950, and moved to Eric’s farm in Lashburn, Saskatchewan. Martha and Eric and their 5 children moved to Leduc, AB in 1960, where 1 more child was born. In 1968 they moved to Chilliwack, where they resided until moving to Cheam Village in Agassiz, BC in 2012. Martha will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
The family would like to thank the Agassiz Seniors Community Staff for the special care and support they provided to Martha and the family.
A funeral is scheduled for 11:00 am on May 9, 2019 at the First Avenue Christian Assembly, 46510 First Avenue, Chilliwack with a reception to follow. Pastor Elmer Martin will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Martha’s life. Interment to follow at the Chilliwack Cemetery.
