It is with sorrow that we announce that after a brief struggle with health issues Richard Bruce Wolff, aged 76 of Castlegar, BC, died at home surrounded by love.
Richard was born in Cardston, Alberta and was the second of five children born to Edwin and Dora Wolff. Moving to Edmonton to pursue studies in Honours Math at the University of Alberta he courted and married Nina Hughes.
He spent his career in the computing department at Selkirk College and delighted in solving tech problems for people, considering it more play than work. He was fascinated that during his career, computers went from consuming entire rooms to being held in the palm of one’s hand. Each summer you could find him at Christina Lake where he loved to boat, waterski, swim, and spend time with family and friends.
He was an avid Family History buff and delighted in finding long lost relatives and documenting their lives. He served with his wife in Philadelphia and Salt Lake City as a Family History Missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Known for his intelligence, attention to detail, wry sense of humour and fudge making skills, he will be sorely missed.
Richard is survived by Nina, his wife of 54 years, his siblings Cub (Bonnie) Wolff, Cheryl Dee Lyman, William (Becky) Wolff, and Bud (Margaret) Wolff, his children Bruce, Nancy (Steven), Donna (Glen), Lora (Lance), Diane (Greg), nine grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
His family is deeply appreciative of the compassionate care he received from medical professionals and the loving kindness extended by friends during his final days.
As an expression of sympathy your donation to the Oncology Department at KBRH www.kbrhhealthfoundation.ca in Richard’s memory would be greatly appreciated.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 11:00 am, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel in Trail, BC. Burial will take place at the Kinnaird Park Memorial Cemetery at 3:00 pm. Gwen Ziprick of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services™ has been entrusted with the arrangements.
You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Richard Bruce Wolff April 29th 2019..
