Rhoda Eveline Strong 2019

Obituary of Rhoda Eveline Strong
On Tuesday, February 19th, in her 97th year, our Mom, Rhoda Strong, left behind this world and its challenges and joined Dad in heaven. Remembering her are her loving son, Warren, his wife Tracey and her much cherished grandchildren Alex (Victoria) and Shelby as well as her great granddaughter, Hannah. She was predeceased by her sisters Phoebe, Erna and her brother Freddie.
At 96 years of age, Rhoda lived a full and busy life. As a child of the depression she learned an early lesson about frugality and generosity to those in need. After 10 years of marriage, she and Burt were finally able to realize their hope of being parents when son, Warren, arrived in their life. Mom worked at a variety of jobs before she and Burt opened their shop, Port Gifts, which later became The Framer’s Gallery in Port Perry. She worked very hard to support her family. Also, Rhoda got great joy serving the community with her many friends at the Maybelle Rebekah Lodge. During the last three years, Mom resided at Port Perry Place. We are truly grateful for all those who helped make her last few years easier there.
The family of Rhoda Strong will receive friends at the WAGG FUNERAL HOME, “McDermott-Panabaker Chapel”, 216 Queen Street in Port Perry (905-985-2171) on Friday, February 22nd from 7 – 9 p.m. A Service to celebrate her life will be held in the Chapel Saturday, February 23rd at 11 a.m. followed by a reception in the Heritage Room of the funeral home. Interment St. George’s on the Hill Cemetery, Etobicoke. If desired, memorial donations may be made by cheque to the Pregnancy Help Centre of Durham. Memories, photos and condolences may be shared at www.waggfuneralhome.com
