Obituary for Peter Mahu
Peter Hypoliet Mahu, a lifelong resident of Wallaceburg, passed away peacefully in Wallaceburg on Monday, May 13th, 2019 at the age of 89. Peter is the son of the late Paul and Marie (Muller) Mahu. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 63 years Catherine Margaret Anne (Eckert) on March 26, 2019. Loving father of Anne Marie Henry (Joseph) of Brampton, Michael Mahu (Ruth) of Belle River, Katherine Brown (Tom) of Sarnia and the late Paul Mahu. Dear grandfather of Spencer & Alecia Henry, Margaret & Megan Mahu, Matthew & Grace Brown and Jaime Fowler (Bill) and great grandfather of Felix. Brother of the late Josie Lernout (Fred), Joseph Mahu, Mary Strydonck (Peter), Rosemary Caron and Pat Mahu and brother in law of Jon Brown and Lorraine Mahu. He will be missed by his many nieces and nephews. Peter was known as a man’s man who loved nature and the outdoors especially hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Es & Kent Scottish Second Battalion Militia from 1957-1964, a member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 18 for 60 years where he was a long time member of the legion Honour Guard. Peter retired from security at the Dupont site in Corunna with the Corps of Commissionaires. The family will receive relatives and friends at the HAYCOCK-CAVANAGH FUNERAL HOME, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg from 6-9 PM on Friday, May 17 with a Legion Service at 6 PM. The Funeral Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at Holy Family Church on Saturday, May 18 at 10:30 AM. Interment in Riverview Cemetery at a later date.
