It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Melvin G. Hatcher on Friday March 22, 2019.
Born in North Sydney August 18, 1946, Melvin was the son of the late Charles and Dorothy (Billard) Hatcher. He enjoyed a successful career as an RN and later went on to obtain his masters in hairdressing.
Mel is survived by his daughter Tammy and granddaughter Brianna, sisters Thelma (Bill) MacLennan, Dalem Lake, Hilda Hatcher, North Sydney, brother-in-law Robert Anderson, Sydney Mines, nieces and nephews, Diane (Steve) Power, Lisa (Sheldon Reid) MacLennan, Gail (Darren MacKeigan) Giaannandrea, Kim (Alfie) Pendergast, Christopher (Amanda) Anderson, great nieces and nephews Logan, Megan, Ryan, Cate, Brianna, Xavier, Carter, Abigail and Zoe.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Sharon Anderson.
The family would like to thank Dr. John Kirkpatrick for the excellent care and attention that he provided to Mel.
There will be no visitation by request. A funeral service for Melvin will be held Wednesday May 15,2019 at 10 am in J M Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main Street, Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia. The burial will follow in Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Lung Association.
