Mary Bruce
1925-2019
Mary Arline Bruce, age 93, of the Glen Haven Manor, formerly
of Grant St., New Glasgow, passed away Tuesday, May 27, 2019, in the
Manor. Born in Greenwood, she was the daughter of
the late Daniel and Annie (MacPherson) Bannerman. A
graduate of the Maritime Business College, she worked for the Royal
Bank, Nightingale and Hayman Accounting, Joseph Almon Construction and
she retired as the secretary from NSCC after 23
years. Mary was a member of Saint Andrews
Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow, former Sunday school teacher and
member of the Alan Pollock AMS. She was predeceased
by her husband, Robert Alistair “Al”; and son,
Douglas. She is survived by a son, George
(Barbara), New Glasgow; daughter-in-law, Jacqueline Bruce, Pictou;
grandchildren: Evan, Lindsey, Adam (Shoba), Cory (Ashlee), Adrian
(Val); great-grandchildren: Alice, Sebastian, Shaun, Alisha, Avery and
Ian. Cremation has taken place. Visitation
7-9 pm Wednesday, June 5, in the R. H. Porter Funeral Home, 55 Almont
Ave., New Glasgow. Funeral service 12 noon,
Thursday, June 6, in Saint Andrews Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow,
with Rev. Dr. Joon Ki Kim officiating. Burial will
be in MacLennan’s Mountain Cemetery. Donations in
her memory may be made to Saint Andrews Presbyterian Church or a
charity of choice.
