Passed away peacefully, with family by her side, on Thursday, February 21st, 2019, at the Norfolk General Hospital, Simcoe, Margaret Rose (Codling) Gillis, a resident of RR1 Simcoe, in her 76th year. Born March 24th, 1943, daughter of the late Gordon Codling and the late Stella (Lloyd) Codling. Margaret was an awesome mom, with her family meaning everything to her. Margaret will be fondly remembered as a single mom raising these three fine daughters: Christine (Larry Walker); Donna (Richard Byczyk); and Connie (Gary Walker). Proud and loving grandma of Corey, Shawna, and Stevie, and especially proud of her “pride and joy” great-grandson Jaxon. Margaret comes from a large extended family of brothers and sisters including: the late Murray (“Chuck”) Codling; the late Peg (Codling) Brandow; the late Bill Codling; and survived by Beatrice Codling; Joe Codling (Carol); Harriet (Charlie Winkworth); Vera (Roy Schermerhorn); Jim Codling (Susie); and Annie Marshall (Derek Sidor). Predeceased by a brother-in-law Ed Marshall. Survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.
Private Family Viewing prior to cremation took place at the MAURICE J. VERHOEVE FUNERAL HOMES-BURIAL AND CREMATION SERVICES INC., 40 Queen Street, Langton. A Graveside Celebration of Life Service will take place on Saturday, June 22, 2019 in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Walsingham by Rev. Allan Wilson, of Langton Baptist Church. In Margaret’s memory, memorial donations may be made to the Simcoe & District Humane Society, Heart & Stroke Foundation, or Camp Trillium (Rainbow Lake, Waterford) through the funeral home (519-842-4238).
