Madge Colpitts
1919-2019
A full life of 99
years, Madge passed away peacefully at the Shannex Parkland (Monarch
Hall), Riverview, NB on Wednesday, May 1,
2019.
Dearly loved, Madge
is survived by her children, Sherran Elizabeth Colpitts-Bowbrick
(David Bowbrick – 2009) of Riverview, NB, Carolyn Madge Colpitts-Leger
(Gerry Leger – 2008) of Ottawa, ON, Bonnie Lee (Blair) Stevens of
Ottawa, ON, her extended family of 4 grandchildren, Andrew (Liz),
Christopher (Adrienne), John (Anji) and Christine; 8
great-grandchildren, Katherine/William, Sparrow/Eden, Nathan, and
Adam/Sage/Grace; many nieces, nephews and extended family
members. Predeceased by her parents, her husband John Lane
Colpitts (1995), her son, Jack Walter (1979), sisters, Beryl and Flo,
and brother, Walter.
Madge had a
steadfast faith and loyally supported her church. She was a committed
life-long member serving in the local chapter of the The New Brunswick
Women’s Institutes and the United Church Women of Canada.
Madge was a home-maker, excellent cook, sewer and talented
quilter.
Madge was born on
Change Islands, Newfoundland and after the death of her father
Ottowell Wood LeDrew, she was raised by her mother, Emma, who moved to
Vancouver, British Columbia. She pursued a nursing career in Toronto,
ON and after marrying, she was a foundational support for John Lane in
his Model Dairy business while raising their family together in
Riverview, NB.
The family will be
receiving relatives and friends at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657
Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Thursday, May 9, 2019 from 2:00
to 4:00 pm.
A Celebration of
Madge’s Life will be held for family and friends at
Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, May 10, 2019 at 11:00
am.
Please join the
family for a reception following the funeral. Interment will occur
beside John Lane Colpitts at Fair Haven Memorial Gardens on Salisbury
Road, NB.
