Lori’s Obituary
At the fabulous age of 53, Lori went home to our Father on May 15, 2019 after a gritty and gutsy fight against cancer. She passed away at Stedman Community Hospice, encircled by her family and friends. She is the best friend and wife to Brian Konst and has 3 glorious sons Mark MacDonald (Christine), Luke MacDonald (Ilia) and Jake MacDonald (deceased). She also has 3 beautiful step-children, Bryanna, Karina and Justen Konst. Grandsons Sean and William MacDonald complete her world.
Lori grew up in Thornhill attending Baythorn PS and Thornhill SS and still has many friends from these days. Lori did many jobs as a young Mom from driving a school bus to waitressing so one parent could be home with the babies. As the children got older and hockey became their passion, Lori became Hespeler Minor Hockey Mom President and then the Hespeler Hockey Tournament Director. She said that she considered this time of her life as one of the best.
She entered into Business Consulting, working with Wine Not Inc. and then onto Subway – OhCal Foods Canada where she proudly protected the brand while coaching franchisees and their employees to be their best. This was a time of accomplishment and happiness for Lori as she made a difference in her work.
When she was diagnosed with Stage IV Rectal cancer in 2015, she never wavered in her hope as well as her relationship with God, many times saying that this was God’s story for her. Brian never left her side and was a light as they went through cancer together. She lived out her faith as a Secular Franciscan being professed in September 2017.
Lori goes before her beloved Brian, Mom Lynne Cats (Grant), Mom Lorraine Morimoto (Wayne, deceased), her Grandfather Gord Osborne (Jean, deceased), her brother David Osborne and her in-laws Jack and Doris Konst. Her Aunt and Uncle, Don and Barb Sharman, her cousins, Kimberly (Jeff) and Keri (Mark) and their beautiful children Alex, Tyler and Hayley will miss her. She is also remembered by nephew Cody Osborne and her Aunt Bobbie and her family.
She now is with her son Jake MacDonald, her Dad Wayne Osborne, her Grandmother Jean Osborne and St. Francis in heaven.
You are loved Lori’s Sisterhood – Lisa Scott, Tiffany Wilson, Lisa Coleman and Susan Fleming. So are you Paul MacDonald.
Thank you is not enough for Dr. Lee and the amazing team at the BGH Cancer Clinic, Dr. Serrano, Dr. Simunovic, Dr. Tamale and his dedicated staff as well as Dr., MacNeil and the wonderful Stedman Hospice team. Many thanks for all those who prayed for Lori as this is the reason why she was so healthy for so long.
Friends will be welcomed at the DWAYNE D. BUDGELL Funeral Home, 1105 Rest Acres Road, Paris on Tuesday May 21, 2019 from 2-4 and 7-9pm, with Franciscan Prayers from 8:45 to 9 pm. Funeral Mass at 11 AM on Wednesday May 22, 2019 at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, 17 Washington Street, Paris, Ontario. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Hampton Inn & Suites, 20 Fen Ridge Court, Brantford, in the Grand Ballroom, between 1:00 and 3:30pm following the funeral Mass. Brian Konst, Mark and Luke MacDonald will deliver eulogies at the Celebration of Life. Lori loved Guatemala and the people there. Donations are gratefully accepted to Loving Arms Charitable Corporation, a Canadian charitable organization helping to transform the lives of the Guatemalan poor.
