Passed away at Grey Gables, Markdale on Saturday, May 11, 2019. Arthur Laverne Lyons of Markdale, in his 93rd year. Beloved husband of Lois Lyons (nee Harvey).
Dear father of Debra Larsen (Greg) of Orangeville, Marcia Trevithick (Neil) of Brinsley, and Lorie Stevenson (Peter) of Lions Bay, B.C.
Grandfather of Andrea Larsen, Leah Larsen (Kent), Amy Blyde (Keith), Nathan Trevithick (Michelle), Michelle Hamilton (Clint), Elyse Labute (Dean), Chantal Lyons-Stevenson (Matt), Mitchell Lyons-Stevenson (Caitlan). Sadly missed by great-grandchildren Noah Trevithick, Evelyn Blyde, Ethan Blyde, Olivia Hamilton, Vincent Hamilton, Karson Hamilton, Julia Hamilton, and Wesley Pitkin.
Brother of Audrey MacDonald (nee Lyons) of Owen Sound and brother in law Jim Arnold, sisters in law Isabel Harvey and Velma Edwards.
Predeceased by parents Lloyd and Christina (nee Torrie) Lyons and sister Willa Mae Arnold (nee Lyons), brothers in law Don Macdonald, Lloyd Harvey, Russ Harvey, Don Harvey, Len Harvey, Alvin McFadden, Clarence Tebbutt, Lawrence Stephens and sisters in law Sadie McFadden, Muriel Stephens, Tress Tebbutt, Alieda Harvey, Joyce Harvey and Laverne Hamilton.
As part of his professional career, Laverne served in the Canadian Armed Forces for 25 years and was stationed in Egypt as part of the Canadian Peace Keeping UN forces.
Friends may call at the May Funeral Home, Markdale, on Thursday from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm, where a funeral service will be held on Friday May 17, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Interment in Markdale Cemetery.
