John Charles White of Erin, passed away peacefully on May 22nd, 2019 surrounded by family at Southlake Regional Hospital, Newmarket. John was born in January 1939 in Brampton, son of Edith Atwood and Clarence White. He grew up in Brampton with his older brothers Ron (wife Lena) and Don (Jeanette), sharing in their common interests of motorcycles and classic cars. He met Shirley Rutherford in 1968; they married in 1971. John had five children, Paul, José (wife Sandra), Christopher, Michael (wife Charlene) and Katherine (husband Miguel). Shirley and John have lived in the town of Erin since 1985. They raised their children in Erin and over the years welcomed grandchildren Santiago, Cheyenne, Chase, Sanjo and Josan. John has been a fixture in town and could often be found at Coffee Time taking part in the local conversation. He will be deeply missed by all who love him.
A celebration of John’s life will be held on Sunday June 2, 2019 at The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 442, 12 Dundas Street East, Erin from 2 p.m. – 6 p.m. Memorial donations in John’s memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
