Jean Vandenberk, age 88, formerly of Monkton and Stratford, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at Nithview Community Nursing Home in New Hamburg, ON. Born in Holland, daughter of the late Wilhelmus Geerts and Louise (Brossens) Geerts-Verheyen and Kees Verheyen. Jean is survived by her true love and best friend of 62 years, Joseph Vandenberk. Loving mother of Sandra (Gerard) O’Rourke, Wendy Vandenberk, Dianne (Ed) Janssen, Terry Bruxer (Frank Groenestege) and Tracy (Ron) Williamson. Proud Oma to Chase, Michelle, Alex, Nicholas, Kirsten, Shannon, Erin, Charlsey, Kelsey, Kerri and Laura. Jean will be remembered by her siblings; John Geerts, Pauline Lauryssen, Nellie Soetemans, Willy VanBree (Godfrey Verberg), Bernie (Annie) Geerts, Peter (Norma) Verheyen, Gerard (Tex) (Lois) Verheyen, Alphonse (Kathy) Verheyen, Ann (John) VanErp, Marge Verheyen-Joris and a sister-in-law Mary Verheyen. She will be fondly remembered by the entire Vandenberk family and her many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Jean was predeceased by her brother Rene’ Verheyen and Frank Verheyen, her sister-in-law Corrie Geerts, and her brothers-in-law Frank Lauryssen, Joe Soetemans, Peter VanBree and Lonnie Toole. The family would like to sincerely thank the entire staff at Nithview Nursing Home for the wonderful care and compassion shown to their mother, Oma and wife, it is very much appreciated. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Monday, May 27, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow in Avondale Cemetery.
