Obituary of James Kenneth Briggs
It is with such sadness that we announce the loss of our brother, uncle, cousin and friend Jamie Briggs. Jamie was just short of his 63rd birthday and taken far too young. Predeceased by his parents Pat and Reg Briggs who died six years ago. Jamie is mourned by siblings: Marsha (Briggs), Martin (Paul) and Mark Briggs. Also surviving him are his niece Jocelyn (Martin) Brown, her husband Michael, and children Veanne and Hannon; and his nephew JP Martin and his family Karla Martin, Payton, Aubrey and Jameson. Never married, he had no children of his own so his five great nieces and nephews enjoyed all the attention this special uncle delivered. Jamie was a man of taste who loved art, music, good wine and collected stamps, precious stones and coins. But he was best known as a baker who could crank out a batch of cookies in the blink of an eye and with a carrot cake recipe that was always in demand but never replicated. He spent many years in the entertainment and hospitality industries becoming a well-known face while working at The Old Gold after a stint at the Blade and Barrel. He lived for several years in Vancouver, Calgary and Saskatoon before returning to his hometown of Regina. He enjoyed traveling, especially visiting southern climes in the winter months. There will no formal funeral service but family from across North America will gather this week to bid him farewell. If you are a friend of Jamie’s please feel free to join us for a BBQ at 50 Culliton Cres., Regina, SK on Friday, May 24, 2019 at 5:00 pm.
