HELENA MARGUERITE WILLIAMS
August 9, 1926 – April 23, 2019
Peacefully with her family by her side, Helena Marguerite Williams aged 92 years passed away at the Good Samaritan – Pembina Village, in Evansburg, Alberta. Helena leaves to cherish her memory, sons Gary (Louise), Kenneth (Laurie) both of Evansburg and daughter Gail Hayduk (Greg) of Drayton Valley. She was blessed with 7 grandchildren, David, Terri, Paulette (Joel), Brian (Suzanne), Christopher (Alysha), Kevin (Erin) and Christoper (Erin) and 15 great grandchildren. Also surviving are her sisters Marie Fair in Minnesota, USA and Rita Caine in Kelowna, BC, numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Helena was predeceased by her husband of sixty years, George in 2008, son Allan in 1963, sisters Celestine Scogland of Lloydminster, SK and Ellen Shank of Edmonton, AB brother James Monaghan of Wetaskiwin.
Helena was born in Mannville, Alberta and grew up loving her family life on the dairy farm with her parents and siblings. Besides farm life, she enjoyed music and especially singing with her talented family. From Mannville she went to Edmonton to obtain a teaching diploma and took her first job in Vermillion in a one room school house and taught grades 1 – 10. She continued to teach as a substitute teacher after her children were born. Besides family and music, Helena’s other love was travelling. She was an active member of the CWL which was very dear to her. While in Evansburg she also belonged to the Ladies Auxiliary.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life at the St Elizabeth’s Catholic Church will be held at a later date.
The family would like to graciously thank Dr. Murphy and the wonderful staff of Good Samaritan-Pembina Village for the exceptional care, patient understanding, and compassion shown to our Mother during her three year stay and to the Good Samaritan – Sunshine Place for her prior eight year stay there as well.
