Passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Wednesday, April 24, 2019, Gregory Charles Pocius, at his home in St. Williams, in his 62nd year. Born in Tillsonburg. Greg was a graduate of Annandale High School, competing in OFSAA basketball and football. He was a proud member of I.B.E.W. Local #105, Hamilton. As a young man, Greg competed in chess tournaments. He enjoyed watching and attending NASCAR, vacations in Las Vegas, and the great outdoors – especially power boating. Member of St. Mary’s R.C. Church.
Proud and loving father of David and Douglas, both of Simcoe. Dear friend of Chris Cameron. Survived by two sisters: Loretta Pocius of London and Monica Hillborg of St. Williams, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Special uncle of Jennifer, Mark, Anastasia, and Pamela. Predeceased by his parents: Charles Pocius (2006) and Anastasia (Trawchuk) Pocius (1986). Also predeceased by a brother James Pocius (1978) and a sister Irene Marozsan (2001).
Friends, relatives and neighbours will be received on Friday, April 26, 2019 from 7 to 9pm at the MAURICE J. VERHOEVE FUNERAL HOMES-BURIAL AND CREMATION SERVICES INC., 262 Broadway St., Tillsonburg. On Saturday, April 27th, Words of Remembrance will be said at 10:15am in the funeral home chapel, followed by a Funeral Liturgical Service at 11am by Deacon Brian Hanley of the St. Mary’s R.C. Church, Tillsonburg. Interment follows in the Tillsonburg Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Greg’s memory to the “Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation (Juravinski Cancer Centre)” would be appreciated by the family.
