Francis Joseph (Frank) Mathieson, born in Ellice Township on December 27, 1930, passed away peacefully in Stratford General Hospital on Wednesday May 8, 2019. Frank was the son of the late William and Catherine (Finegan) Mathieson. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Phyllis (Ratz). He is also survived by his brother Gordon (Sheila) and many special nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister Helen (Robert Sparrow), brothers John (Jackie), James (Betty) and Albert (Mary). Brothers and Sisters in law, Helen and Anthony Vertulia, Gladys and Don Ranney, Earl and Ruth Ratz and Lavern and Ilsa Ratz.
Frank began his accounting career in 1950 with Fen Gibb Accounting, later to become Famme and Company until his retirement in 1995.
Visitation for family and friends on Sunday, May 12, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Church, 96 Huron Street, Stratford on Monday, May 13, at 11 a.m. Interment at Avondale Cemetery followed by a reception at the Arden Park Hotel. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society, Canadian Cancer Society, the Mathieson Family Fund at the Stratford Perth Community Foundation (supporting local charities and organizations) or the charity of one’s choice through the funeral home. 519.271.7411 www.wgyoungfuneralhome.com
