1933-2019
DAVIS, D. Elaine. Age 86 of Bridgewater, passed away quietly on April
30, 2019 at Ryan Hall. Elaine was born in Greenville, Ohio on August
19, 1933 to Harold and Ruth(Oldham) Loxley. Elaine married Herbert
Ritchie in 1951. They had 3 children and later divorced. She raised
3 children by herself while attending college, graduating in 1969 with
a PHD in Psychology. Elaine married William (Bill) Davis in 1969.
After teaching/counselling in Iowa for a short time, they decided to
travel. They travelled all across Canada, settling in British
Columbia. After divorcing from Bill, Elaine moved to St.
John’s, Nfld. After counselling at Memorial University in St.
John’s for many years and helping many students navigate through
college life, she retired to Bridgewater. Elaine is survived by her
son, Ralph Ritchie (Deb) of Alma, Kansas and her daughter, Karin
Donnan of Toronto, Ont.. She was preceded in death by her parents;
her brother, David Loxley; her brother, Sidney Loxley and her son,
Bruce Ritchie. Special thanks to the staff of Ryan Hall in
Bridgewater for the care they gave her during her stay there.
