Dewit – Keesje Cornelis Jozef “Cornel”
It is with great sadness the family announces the death of a dear husband, father and grandfather on Sunday, May 5th, 2019 at Health Sciences North at the age of 73. Beloved husband of Joyce (nee Heimpel) for 47 years. Caring and loving father of Stephanie (Ian) and Steven (Karen). Pappa to one little love of his life, his “girlie” Isla, and honorary grandfather to Emma and Haiden. Born in Rijkevoort, the Netherlands on October 17th, 1945, he was the son of John and Joanne (Vandeligt) both predeceased. The family immigrated to Canada in 1951. Caring brother to Peter (predeceased) (Betty Cloutier (Richard), Rene (Marlene), Johnny (Pat), Jack (Louise), Jaqueline (Glenn) and Philip (Bernadette). Will also be missed by brothers and sisters-in-law; Lewis (Sheila0, Murray (predeceased) (Carol), Kathryn (George), Claire (Carl), Ken (Gertie), RoseMarie (Ken), Janet and Fred (Melissa). Also missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and their families.
Work was his hobby and his hobby was his work. He was always busy with projects, whether his own or helping others. An avid reader, he loved a good mystery. He had much knowledge and was always in search of more. Special thanks to the staff at HSN on the 6th floor for their kindness and compassion.
As per his wishes, no funeral or visitation. Interment of ashes and celebration of life will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lung Association.
