Obituary for
Clifford Schneider
Clifford Noah Schneider
(1934 to 2019)
Cliff, aged 84 years, passed away peacefully in his sleep in the early hours of May 1, 2019. Beloved husband of Patricia (née Boyd) and loving father of Judy (John Busnarda), Dale (Julie Lamer) and Tracy. He will be fondly remembered by his six grandchildren Andrew, Evan, Carolyn, Daphnée, William and Katelynn.
Cliff is survived by his sisters Ethelda Anderson, Ruth Jonas, and Sheila Heimpel; his brothers Lyle and Grant; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Cliff is predeceased by his parents (Grant and Thelma), his parents-in-law (Hugh and Swava Boyd), his sister Sharon, his brothers-in-law Hugh Boyd and Charles Jonas, and his sisters-in-law Beverley Boyd and Ruth Boyd.
Cliff was born in 1934 on the family farm in Linwood, Ontario. He was the oldest son and grew up working the land and tending to the animals. Once he left the farm, Cliff became a long-haul trucker and mover. Cliff married Pat in 1966 and settled into the house where Pat still lives. Once children arrived on the scene, he decided he should stay closer to home and became a mechanic on eighteen wheelers. In the 1980s, Cliff and his brothers bought a farm where they spent their summers getting back to their roots and growing wheat and barley. The families spent time at the farm picking rocks, taking wagon rides, and enjoying bonfires and corn roasts. Their children enjoyed the adventure and freedom that the farm provided: chasing frogs, catching crayfish, riding dirt bikes, and fishing in the conservation area. The farm was sold in the 1990’s and to fill his time, Cliff turned to woodworking. He was a master craftsman creating children’s toys (tractors and wagons, milk trucks, and trains) and big boy toys (eighteen wheelers, antique cars and trucks). When Cliff finally retired, he and Pat spent their weekends selling his creations at markets. He was always ready to help family and friends fix things around the house. There wasn’t anything that he couldn’t take apart and put back together. Cliff also enjoyed playing cards and watching sports. We will all miss his kindness, friendship, and sense of humour.
Cliff has been cremated. Friends and family are invited to join the family on Thursday, June 6, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, ON N2B-2A5, 519-749-8467.
