CARRIÈRE, Bernard – Mr. Bernard (Bernie) Carrière at Cornwall Hospice on May 6, 2019, at the age of 70 years. Beloved husband of 49 years to Helen MacDonell Carrière. Loving father of Grégoire Carrière. Dear brother to Jean Carrière (Coleen Davidson), Robert Carrière (Frances Boire). Dear uncle to Bénédicte Carrière (Eric Clubine), Zacharie Carrière (Kayley Patterson) and great uncle to Hannah and Cohen. Predeceased by his parents Rémi Carrière and Claire Léger. Also missed by many uncles and aunts. Bernie was an avid photographer and nature enthusiast. Following a career in the federal public service that included work abroad in India and Europe, he volunteered for many years with the Encore Education Program in Cornwall and Alexandria where he offered courses on philosophy, history, and photography. He will be remembered for his loyalty and devotion to his friends and family, as well as for his contagious appetite for life. There will be no visitation. A service will be held at St. Mary’s Church, Williamstown, Ontario on Friday, May 10, 2019 at 11:00AM. Special thanks to the wonderful staff at the Cornwall Hospice, as well as to Drs. Diane Poilly, Meg Hagarty, and Luc Brière. If so desired, contributions in his memory to Cornwall Hospice would be appreciated by the family. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Wilson Funeral Home in Cornwall. An interment ceremony will be held at a later date.
