GOUDEY, Audrey Hattie – age 83 of Arcadia, Yarmouth Co., N.S. passed away at Yarmouth Regional Hospital on May 14, 2019. Born in Yarmouth on January 28, 1936, she was the elder daughter of Alfred Perry Trask and Claretta (Kenney) Rodney.
Audrey graduated from Yarmouth Memorial High School and studied business at Acadia University. She worked for Sears Canada at their headquarters in Toronto and then focused full time on raising her family. After her children were grown she pursued a degree in education and taught business administration at the Nova Scotia Community College, Burridge Campus. She was a talented and accomplished artist, creating beautiful pieces in media ranging from acrylic, oil, watercolor, charcoal, clay, and wool. She was an avid gardener and landscaping her property in Arcadia was a labour of love. Audrey was a devoted mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as “Nanny” to Andrew and Melissa.
Audrey is survived by her daughter, Cindy (Brian) Trask of Atlanta GA, and two grandchildren Andrew Brian Trask, New York, NY and Melissa Audrey Trask, Arlington VA; sister, Carol Eldridge, Moncton NB; half -brother John W. Trask, Dartmouth and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband of 63 years, Berwyn “Skip” Goudey; beloved son, Mark David Goudey; brother Alfred Perry Trask Jr.; half -brothers F. Stewart Trask and Beverley Campbell Trask
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. A Celebration of Audrey’s life will be held July 18, 2019 at 2 P.M. from Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. A.D. “Bill” Newell officiating. Interment will be in Yarmouth Mountain Cemetery with a reception to follow at the Rodd Grand Hotel, all are welcome. In lieu of flowers donations in Audrey’s memory may be made to the Yarmouth Hospital Foundation (yarmouthhospitalfoundation.ca) or The Kidney Foundation of Canada (www.kidney.ca ).
