Anita Jane Butcher, 96 passed away peacefully Saturday, April 27th, 2019. She was born in Chatham, Ontario to the late George and Ethel Simonton and is survived by her son George Butcher and nieces, Shelley and Shanno Simonton. Predeceased by her partner, Harvey Shaw, and her brother, John W. Simonton (Madeleine). Anita will be forever remembered by her many elementary school students in Chatham and Scarborough and for her love of music, dancing, fine dining, fashion and antiques. Special thanks to the second floor staff at Perth Community Care and her personal care companion, Mary Chapman. Family and friends are invited to the Alexander & Houle Funeral Home, 245 Wellington West, Chatham, 519-352-2710 with visiting on Monday May 6th, 2019 from 11:30 am until the time of service at 1:00 pm with Pastor Greg Simpson of St. Andrew’s United Church officiating. Interment Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham. Friends planning an expression of remembrance are asked to consider the Ontario SPCA and Humane Society or a charity of their choice.
