Alojz Benjamin Mirt “Slavko”:
Passed away peacefully on May 24, 2019 surrounded by his family at the age of 72.
Beloved husband to Elizabeth.
Loving father to David.
Predeceased by his parents Martin and Rozalija (Omrzel) Mirt.
Dear brother of Martin (Zinka) Mirt from Waterloo, Vida (late Franc) Kerin from France, Fanika (late Jose) Melavc, Vika (Toni) Umek both from Slovenia. Predeceased by his brother Pepi (Fanika) Mirt from Slovenia.
He will be missed by his mother-in-law Sabina Sendlak and sister-in-law Wiesia as well as nieces Monika of Poland and Malgosia of the USA, Jana and Heidi of Waterloo, Ginette of France, Fanika and Karmen of Slovenia and nephews Martin of Waterloo, Joze, Jozi and Bostjan from Slovenia. Predeceased by his nephew Aleksander.
He will be deeply missed by many.
Slavko came to Canada in 1965. He was a hard worker and an avid outdoors man. He enjoyed big game hunting.
Slavko’s family will receive relatives and friends from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. & 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with reception at the Sava Club in Breslau immediately following the service. Interment to take place at a later date.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Grand River Hospital Foundation – Freeport Palliative Care or Grand River Hospital Foundation – Cancer Research would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
