John James Jim Ross 19192019

John James “Jim” Ross
1919-2019
The family announces, with
sorrow, the passing of John James “Jim” Ross on Friday, May
24, 2019, at the age of 99 years.
Dear son of the late Harry and Annie May (nee McNeil)
Ross.
Beloved husband of the late Matilda “Tillie” Ross
(nee McIntyre); beloved father of David, Sudbury; beloved grandfather
of Fay (Steve); beloved great-grandfather of Julian and
Aiden.
He was predeceased by his daughter-in-law, Kristine Ross (nee
Tenhunen); grandson Julian; two infant sons and all his
siblings.
Jim will be sadly missed by his daughter-in-law’s
family, many nieces and nephews and their children, many cousins
including Sally and good friends including Kenny and
Doris.
He was born in a farm house on the Banks Road in Inverness,
Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, the second youngest in a family of six. Jim
was a Canadian veteran of the Second World War, serving as a Military
Policeman in France, Holland and Germany. After the war, he came to
Sudbury and met his wife of 60 years. Jim retired from Inco in 1978
and they returned to Cape Breton. After a family tragedy in 1983, he
and Tillie came back to Sudbury and despite the great loss, spent many
happy years helping to help raise his granddaughter.
In his last years, Jim received good care and made many
friends at Harbourview Veterans Hospital in Sydney Mines, Nova
Scotia.
A mass and a celebration of life will be held at a later
date.
