William Harry Richards Saturday March 16th 2019

(WM) Harry Richards died peacefully at his home in Bracebridge, Ontario on Saturday, March 16, 2019. Harry was born in Toronto on May 18, 1940.
He leaves his wife of 52 years, Margaret (Jones) Richards; his sons, Andrew William (Larry) and Joseph (Lori); his grandchildren, Juliann and Jacob; and many close friends and family.
Harry was loved by his nieces, nephews, sister/brother-in-laws, Florida family and many friends. His sense of humour and tender heart have contributed to everlasting memories and smiles. He was an important part of traditions, including bocce weekend, Guys’ weekend, dock parties and beer:30.
Harry spent many years working in the aeronautical and aerospace industry; he was especially proud of his contributions to the Canadarm with SPAR. Harry was a former member of the Toronto Sailing and Canoe Club. He was a Third Degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus. Before the 1988 Olympics, Harry proudly carried the torch through Courtice on it’s way to Calgary. Harry enjoyed wood working and home projects; this passion along with his generous heart inspired him to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity in Ontario and in Florida.
Thank you to the RVH Cancer Clinic, Dr. Li and Dr. Stevens and staff, the care coordinators and visiting nurses for their respectful care.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, March 21, 2019 from 2-4, 6-8 (prayers at 7) at Cavill-Turner Funeral Home, 215-1 Bay Street, Gravenhurst. Funeral Mass is scheduled on Friday, March 22 at 11 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Gravenhurst. Messages of condolence can be offered to the family at www.cavillfuneralhome.com
