Walter’s Obituary
Walter York Morton, 85, passed away on April 15, 2019 in his home, in Greenwood Square, Nova Scotia, after a battle with cancer. He was born on July 16, 1933 in Ward Settlement, New Brunswick to the late York and Glennie (Flynn) Morton. In 1958 Walter married Phyllis (Reid) and together they raised their children Kimberlea, David and Karen. Walter worked for CIBC in the Maritimes for 24 years. In 1975 he purchased Keith M Clarke Insurance Ltd and ran the business in Greenwood, Nova Scotia for another 20 years before his retirement in 1995. Walter will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 60 years, Phyllis; his children, Kimberlea (Neal), David (Shirley) and Karen (Darren); brother, Robert (Bonnie); sister, Mary Alma (Douglas); and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Besides his parents, Walter was predeceased by his brother, James (Marie) and sister, Ina. Thank you Dr. Sarah Ward, Dr. Catrina Burgess, the Victorian Order of Nurses and the nurses of the Palliative Care Unit for your kindness and compassion. A special thank you also to the many friends and neighbors, your love and support means the world to us. Cremation has taken place. As per Walter’s request, there will be no funeral service and a private family interment will take place in the North Kingston Cemetery, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Walter’s name to the Canadian Cancer Society. Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St. toll free 1-855-825-3448.
