Verna Lewis 2019

Verna Lewis
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Verna I. Lewis
announces her passing on Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at Orchard View Long
Term Care Home in Gagetown, NB. Born in Coles Island, NB, she was the
daughter of the late Rutherford and Agnes (Hargreaves)
Bustard.
Verna is survived by her daughters Joyce Robinson (George) of
Cambridge Narrows, and Pauline Ferris (Carl) of Fredericton;
granddaughters April Robinson of Cambridge Narrows, and Melissa Ferris
of Fredericton; a brother Ronald Bustard (Leona) of Chipman, sisters
Marie Cole of Sus, and Erma Hargreaves of Ontario; sister-in-law
Edris Bustard of Sus; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Verna was predeceased by her
husband Arthur Lewis, brothers Walter and Murray Bustard and a sister
Ethel McNaught.
Following her marriage to Arthur, they worked the family farm
in Whites Cove. Verna enjoyed sewing and for many years was a vendor
at the Jemseg Farmers Market with her quilts and crafts. She was also
a dedicated exhibitor at the Queens County Fair. Her special place to
relax was the cottage on Grand Lake. Verna’s pastimes
included jigsaw puzzles, tending local jam sessions and bargain
hunting at yard sales. For those attending the service feel free to
join the family in wearing purple, Verna’s favorite
colour.
Visitation will take place at the Oromocto Funeral Home on
Sunday, April 7, 2019 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A funeral service will be
held in the Oromocto Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, April 8, 2019 at
2:00 PM with Rev. Sara Palmater officiating. Donations in
Verna’s memory can be made to Canadian Red Cross Health
Equipment Loan Program (HELP), Orchard View Foundation or to the
Jemseg Cemetery.
