Tonya Marie Dean
1969-2019
Tonya Marie Dean – 50, Truro, passed
away peacefully, with the love and support of family at her side, on
Saturday morning, April 6, 2019, at Colchester East Hants Health
Centre, Truro. Born in Woodstock, Ontario, she was a daughter of the
late Bernard Dean and Amelda Arsenault.
Tonya is survived by her sister, Debbie Park,
Musquodoboit; brothers, Joey Arsenault, Summerside, Prince Edward
Island; Troy Arsenault, Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island; half
sister, Gloria Poole (Richard), Massachusetts, USA; brother-in-law,
Ward (Grace) Newhook, Brookfield; step sisters, Brenda Stewart, Nancy
Stewart; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Along with her parents,
she was predeceased by her step mother, Ermnie Dunlap; maternal
grandmother, Mamie Arsenault; paternal grandparents, Eileen and Alfred
Dean; step brother, Dennis Stewart.
Tonya was an affiliate of Truro Alliance Church and was
absolutely thrilled to have her family and friends present when she
got baptized on February 17, 2013. She was an avid country music fan,
hockey fan who cheered on Toronto Maple Leafs and Nascar fan, her
favourite driver being Dale Earnhardt, Jr. She had been living at
Cedarstone Enhanced Care since October 2001 and prior to that lived at
Hillcrest Manor, Truro and Arborstone Enhanced Care, Halifax. She
enjoyed making music by playing drums with “The Cedartoners”
and will be missed by staff, volunteers and residents; her personality
and optimism shone through and was infectious.
We are grateful and thankful to the staff at Colchester
East Hants Health Centre for your tender and compassionate care of
Tonya and support to her family. As well, a special thank you to
Cedarstone for all they have done for Tonya! She always received the
best of care, was well loved by the staff and volunteers, and many
went out of their way to make Tonya feel special. She loved you all!
Funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, April
10, 2019, at Cedarstone Enhanced Care, 378 Young Street, Truro, Pastor
Scott Penner officiating. Reception will follow. Spring interment in
Truro Heights Cemetery. If so desired, donations in Tonya’s
memory to Canadian Paraplegic Association of Nova Scotia are welcomed.
