John “Thomas” Harley, loving husband of Kimberley Ann (Buckley) Harley, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 26, 2019 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, NB on August 18, 1951 he was the son of the late James Leo and Kathleen Gertrude (Cronin) Harley.
Thomas worked for the Canadian Coast Guard for 25 years and was presently employed as a Production Specialist at Xerox. He was a fabulous cook and will be remembered for his famous all-star ribs. He loved to spend time at his childhood cottage on Kennebecasis Island that he shared with his brothers where he enjoyed walks on the beach, hosting friends and winning many hands of poker. In his younger years he was a wicked baseball player and served as an altar boy at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. He enjoyed harness-racing road trips with his brother Bob. He was a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church until his untimely passing. Most importantly he cherished Sundays spent at home with Kim, Ryan and Dinah.
In addition to his loving and devoted wife of 33 years, Kim; he is survived by his only child and best pal Ryan; feline companion Dinah; brothers Joseph Harley (Carolyn) of Calgary, Robert Harley (Lorraine) of Dartmouth and Christopher Harley (Jane) of Saint John; several nieces and nephews and many friends.
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) on Tuesday, April 30 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. His funeral service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at 11 a.m. Remembrances in memory of Tom may be made to the Romero House Soup Kitchen or the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception Restoration Project.
