1955-2019
We, the family of Shauna
Marie MacAdam, regret to announce her sudden passing on Sunday, April
7, 2019, in Varadero, Cuba.
Born May 30, 1955, in Sydney, she was the daughter of the
late John MacAdam and Stella (Gaudet) MacDonald.
Shauna passed doing what she loved, traveling. She was a good
friend to many and could often be found sitting in the George St. Tim
Hortons with the coffee crew. She graduated from Dalhousie University
with a B.A., then studied at the Nova Scotia Teachers College in Truro
to obtain her Education Degree. Teaching was Shauna’s true
calling. She had the ability to connect with students, offering
patience and care. She taught until her early retirement with the
Eskasoni School Board. Shauna also worked at CIBC in Sydney River.
During her retirement, she dedicated time to volunteer with local
charities including, MS Society of Cape Breton, Salvation Army Kettle
Fund, Girl Guides of Canada and Children’s Wish
Foundation.
Shauna is survived by her son, John (Jenna) MacKinnon,
Sydney; daughter, Jennifer (Wally) McKinnon, NB; grandchildren,
Ceilidh, Samantha and Wally; sister, Deborah (Bobby) Stevens, Howie
Center; brothers, Paul (Margaret), Mira, Gerard (Joanne), ON and Brent
(Gayle), AB; long-time friend, Kurt Whalen and many nieces and
nephews.
Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later
date.
Memorials may be made to the MS Society of Cape Breton or the
Salvation Army Sydney Citadel.
