Obituary of Selma Rice
June 13, 1956 – April 3, 2019
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Selma Maxine Rice, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother at the young age of 62 years.
She was happily welcomed into heavens gates on April 3, 2019 at Prairie Lake Hospice.
Selma was born in a small town of Newfoundland in 1956. She married her high school sweetheart Willie in 1982, where their greatest accomplishment in life is their daughter Gloria. They lived in Seal Cove, NL for many years until they moved to AB in 2005.
She spent many years working in the service industry where she spent her life making people laugh. She thoroughly enjoyed working with people and dedicated her life to making sure that those around her were shown love, respect, and kindness.
Selma is survived by her husband Willie, daughter Gloria (Grant), and the lights of her life, granddaughters Zoey and Gracie. She is also survived by her siblings; Wayne (Evelyn), Kay (Don), Melvin (Angela), Roger (Melody), Robert (Amy), Deanna (Steve), Chloe (Todd), along with many loving nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents Gordan and Marjorie Rice, sister Violet, and father in law Boyce.
Selma’s family wish to send a big thank you to Prairie Lake Hospice where she was lovingly cared for, Dr. Angela Barreth, as well as to all of the Health Care Team throughout her journey. A thank you to Bear Creek Funeral Home for their kindness and support during this difficult time.
A Funeral Service for Selma will be held in her hometown of Newfoundland on April 11, 2019.
