Passed peacefully away at the St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital, in the presence of his loving family, Rendell Hayward Vokey, aged 81 years. Predeceased by parents Stanley and Edith Vokey; sisters Evelyn (John), Viola (Lloyd) and Ruby; brothers Ernest and Gordon (Muriel). Leaving to mourn Mary, his loving wife of 54 years; his children Valerie (Richard), Ken (Cathy) and Sharon (Adam); as well as his grandchildren Jennifer (Chris), Matthew, Evan, Erica, Emily and Olivia; sisters and sister-in-law Julie (Frank, deceased), Shirley (Merrill, deceased), Rowena (Danny) and Gladys; brothers and brother-in-law Calvin (Bertha) and George; as well as a large circle of extended family and friends. Many thanks to the St. Clare Intensive Care Unit and special thanks to Dr. Genge and her staff. The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. D. Chaulk and Dr. B. Sus. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, St. John’s, on Saturday, April 6 and Sunday, April 7 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held from Holy Family Parish, Paradise, on Monday, April 8 at 10 a.m. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Canadian Diabetes Association.
