Perley Leroy Stoddard 1929 2019

Obituary of Perley Leroy Stoddard
Perley Leroy Stoddard, 89, of Falmouth, Hants County, passed away on Sunday April 21, 2019 at his home. He was born August l, 1929 in Upper Falmouth. He was the youngest child of the late John ‘Starr’ Stoddard and Mary Jane Patterson.
Perley was an auto mechanic by trade, but was able to fix or create just about anything he wanted to make. He met the love of his life Minnie Dorman around 1948 and they were married on June 29, 1950. Dad and mom enjoyed camping, going for drives and visiting while we were younger. In the 1970’s they bought a cottage on Black River Lake and that is where one would find them most weekends. Dad also enjoyed growing vegetables and fruit in his garden. Our parents were together for 66 years and when our mother died in March of 2016, a part of dad died along with her. He was never the same.
He is survived by his children Barbara (Brad Tatham), Sherri (David Allen) and John (Iona) Stoddard; grandchildren Michael (Jami), Carolyn (Bryan Guinta), and Devin Stoddard, Joseph (Shelley), and Jonathan (Robyn Atwell) Allen, Khaleena Baksh, Nicholas Stoddard, Serena (Jules) and Wayde Duncan. He is also survived by his great grandchildren Keith, Luke and Daniel Allen, Shania Baksh, Mika, Alycia, and Raimee Duncan and the newest addition William Guinta as well as several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by Ellen Crowley who was the wife of his son David.
He was predeceased by his wife Minnie (Dorman); siblings Myrtle Lyon, Madalean Swinamer and George Stoddard; eldest son David; grandson Matthew Stoddard and great granddaughter Hope Allen.
We would like to thank all of dad’s neighbours, friends and relatives who would come visit him, take him places and/or cooking a meal for him, especially since our mother had past. A special thank you goes out to Terry Newcombe (dad’s Macdonald buddy) for all of his help, to Mildred Schofield for keeping an eye out on dad for us, to Mike Campbell for his help at tax time and for a lift when it was needed and to Stewart Lyon and Liz Curry for all that they did. They were there for Dad til the very end. Dad thought Stewart was more like his younger brother than his nephew.
There will be a Celebration of Life at the Falmouth Community Hall (147 Falmouth Back Road, Falmouth) on Saturday, April 27, 2019 from 2 to 4 pm. Memorial donations may be made to the Falmouth Community Hall or Fidelis House Society, Kentville, NS. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4P 1B9 (902-679-2822).
