It is with great sadness that the family of Patrick Mulrooney Sr. announce his peaceful passing, surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday April 25th 2019, at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital, at the age of 92 years.
Patrick’s memory will be cherished by a large circle of family who will always remember his kind and gentle spirit and his extraordinary and unconditional love for his pride and joy, his family. Leaving to mourn are Patrick’s three sons: Peter (Debbie) Mulrooney of Kippens, Patrick Mulrooney (Daphne Martin) of Point Au Mal, and Shawn (Rachael) Mulrooney of Texas; two daughters: Rhoda Mulrooney (Troy Duffy) of Kippens, and Jeanette (Jamey) French of Kippens; 17 grandchildren: Jason, Janice, Patricia, Richard, Kelly, Paddy, Matthew, Kayla, Megan, Karri, Danielle, Noelle, Shawn, Jaime, Raya, Maria, and Chloe; 14 great grandchildren: Taylor, Brandon, Landen, Logan, Layla, Riley, Grace, Clare, Noah, Alexis, Bria, Scarlett, Jack, and James. Patrick was dearly loved by his many nieces, nephews, relatives and his large circle of friends.
Patrick is predeceased by his beloved wife Genevieve (nee Whiffen), infant son Anthony Mulrooney, birth parents Louis and Susan Mulrooney, special parents Peter and Esther Mulrooney, brother Alphonsus Mulrooney, father-in-law Anthony Whiffen, and mother-in-law Rhoda Whiffen.
The family would like to extend our gratitude to Dad’s caregivers over the years, who have helped him be more comfortable and independent in his own home. We are grateful for the love you have shown to our beloved father. We would also like to thank Dr. Scott Lamswood and the staff of the Palliative Care unit of Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital for their care and compassion during Dad’s hospitalization.
Family will receive friends at Russell’s Funeral Home in Stephenville on Sunday April 28 from 7-9 p.m.
In celebrating Patrick’s life, funeral services will be held on Monday, April 29, at 10 a.m. at St. Stephen’s Parish, on West Street, with interment in the Hillside Interfaith Cemetery on the Hansen Highway.
