Patrick Bruce Smiley December 3, 1945- April 18, 2019
Diagnosed with terminal cancer in July of 2018, Patrick battled his diagnosis of cancer with humour, grace, and all his strength. Despite his likely outcome, he fought, and while he fought Patrick made it his mission to make everyone smile. Throughout the chemotherapy and radiation sessions, his efforts were to bring others just a bit of laughter and joy. Patrick took the “Smiley” name very seriously, never failing to live up to it, for “what is life if you can’t have a little fun”? “I Did It My Way”- These lyrics are the epitome of his life. In life and in death, Patrick did it his way. Patrick passed away peacefully, surrounded by those he loved and those who loved him. Patrick is survived by his loving family, daughters, Debbie Smiley, Laura Grealy (Paul), Dodi Smiley (Shelley), Sister Pam Ray (Jim), Brother Mike Smiley, his grandchildren, Melissa, Kyle, Jordan, Megan, Kahlina, Braeden, and his very special great grandchild, Soul. Patrick also leaves behind a special niece and nephews, and many special friends, some life long and some more recent (there are too many to mention, you know who you are). To all of you that contributed to Patrick’s happiness, Patrick’s family thanks you. Look out up there! The party has arrived! We invite you to join us for a celebration of life on Saturday May 11th at Patrick’s favorite “Spot”, the Langley White Spot. (Seating is on the patio) Address: 19651- Fraser Hwy from 2:30pm-5:00pm. In Lieu of flowers, donations to the BC Cancer Agency Research department would be greatly appreciated. A special thank you to the staff at ARH & the ARH Cancer Centre for your kindness, compassion and care throughout Patrick’s cancer treatment and in his final days.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Patrick Bruce Smiley December 3 1945 April 25 2019 (age 73)..
