SHANO, Patricia Ann “Pat” ~ It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Patricia Ann Shano, age 67 of Kingston, surrounded by her loving family at the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville on the morning of Sunday, April 21, 2019. Born in Annapolis Royal, she was a daughter of Rita (Woods) and the late Carrol Burrell. Pat studied nursing at NSCC Dartmouth and went on to work at the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax. After starting a family of her own, Pat and her husband decided to become foster parents, fostering many children who still carry loving memories of their time spent with her. Pat’s love of gardening, swimming and music came second to the great love she had for her children and grandchildren. She always looked forward to visits, baking all their favourite treats. Pat will be deeply missed by her loving husband of 47 years, Ronald Shano; daughters, Tanya and Lindsay (Ryan); sons, Gerald and Joseph (Kelly); mother, Rita Burrell; sisters, Mary (Monty), Lynn (Dave) and Kim (Rick); her brother, Gerry; grandchildren, Alex, Grace, Gavin, Kaylynn, Avery, Connor and Nolan. Pat was predeceased by her dad, Carrol Burrell. In keeping with Pat’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 26th at St. Monica’s Catholic Church, 41 Connaught Ave., Middleton with Father Keith Billard officiating. A reception will follow the service in the Church hall. By request, family flowers only. Donations in memory may be made to Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of Canada.
