Obituary of Olga Hrycuk
HRYCUK, Olga –
1923 – 2019
It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Olga Hrycuk on Monday, April 22, 2019 at the age of 95. Predeceased by her beloved husband Alex. Much loved mother of Julianna Hrycuk Mekarski (Bogumil) and cherished Babi of her granddaughter Sophia. Olga was born in Belarus in 1923 and after a difficult journey during the war and post war years, she finally came to her adopted home of Canada in 1958. Her life was underscored by her grace, kindness and great love for her family. Her love for her homeland of Belarus and her Orthodox faith sustained and guided her throughout her life. A funeral service will be held at the JAMES REID FUNERAL HOME, 1900 John Counter Boulevard, on Monday, April 29 at 2:00 pm with M. Rev. Archbishop Sviataslau presiding. Interment Cataraqui Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 pm to 1:50 pm, and during a reception in the Reception Centre following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations would be welcomed to the Alzheimer’s Society or the charity of your choice in Olga’s memory. Our sincere appreciation to the staff at Fairmount Home for their compassionate and dedicated care.
