It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Mary Maxim on Saturday April 20, 2019, at the age of 93 years.
Born September 7, 1925 in Nyircsaholy, Hungary, Mary was three years of age when she immigrated to Canada with her parents, Julius and Anna Kark. As a young girl she lived and worked in Lethbridge, Alberta. Mary married James Maxim on August 30, 1947 and moved to Calgary, Alberta where they built their life together. Our Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother was a strong woman with an optimism and a sense of joy that she expressed each and every day. Mary had an amazing work ethic and worked at the Hudson’s Bay Company for over 35 years. She was a fantastic cook, an avid gardener and was a great conversationalist who was most willing to express her opinion on the world’s daily events. She enriched and touched your life just by knowing her.
Mary is predeceased by her husband James, and is survived by her son, James Maxim (Frances Lecky), her granddaughter Alicia Maxim-Welsh (Daley Welsh), and her great granddaughter Evie; her son, Robert Maxim (Anne Isbister), her granddaughter, Heather Russell (Dwight Russell), and her great grandchildren, Alaura, Jillian, Layne, and Seth. Mary will be greatly missed by her sister, Irene Onody (Alex) of Lethbridge, and countless relatives and friends in Canada, the USA, and Hungary.
We will miss our loving Mother, tender Grandmother and beloved and cherished Friend.
