Mary Helena “Lena” Hubbard
1951-2019
It is with hearfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Helena Mary Hubbard, mother of Nancy-Lee Hambrook (Darren) and grandmother of Danton and Danya Hambrook of Sunny Corner, NB, on April 27th, 2019 at the age of 68.
Lena was the daughter of the late Gordon and Lillian (Estey) Hubbard of Sevogle.
She passed surrounded by her family, her true love.
Besides her only daughter, son in law and grandchildren, she is survived by her brother Kevin Hubbard (Suzanne), Betty Murphy (Richard) and Cathy Bryenton (Jeff).
She was also very proud to be an aunt to Eugene Murphy (Sheila), Nicole Lee (Jamey), Louis Murphy (Emily), Jennifer Kirwan (Bill), Jeffrey Bryenton (B.J.), Katie Lee Bryenton (Justin), Caroline Murphy, Cody Lee, Madison Lee, Sterling Murphy, Michael Bryenton and Jackson Bryenton.
She also had a special friendship with God daughter Jane Bell and a special love for Catherine Hache.
She was everyone’s Grammie Lena.
Besides her mother in 1970; her father in 1974, she is predeceased by her brother Louie Hubbard in 1977 and her baby sister Cst. Julie Hubbard in 1994.
Lena was an LPN for 44 years and loved every minute of that work and all of the people that she cared for and met along the way.
She worked many years at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, The Colonel Belcher Hospital in Calgary, and then finished her career at Region 7.
She cherished time spent with family and friends the most.
She had a true pride in family and talked about her grandchildren constantly.
She continued to keep in contact with special family in Calgary where she lived for 11 years.
She loved her years there.
She valued attending lunches with old colleagues and longtime friends.
She also enjoyed knitting, sewing and catching up through phone calls.
She was a member of Saint Thomas Apostle Parish and was an advocate for faith.
She felt that faith was a foundation of life and that it got her through many things throughout her time.
Her strong faith also made her strong in life until the end.
Lena will be resting at Meadows Funeral Home, 150 Northwest Road., Sunny Corner, NB, on Tuesday, April 30th, 2019, from 2-4 and 7-9.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Saint Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank, NB, on Wednesday, May 1st, 2019, at 11 AM with Father Dan Melanson officiating.
Burial will take place at Saint James Roman Catholic Church Cemetery, Sevogle at a later date.
As expressions of sympathy, in Lena’s memory, a donation may be made to the Henri Cormier Tree of Hope Lodge at the George Dumont Hospital; Saint James Roman Catholic Church Cemetery Fund; Sunny Corner Fire Department or the Extra Mural Program.
