Mary Ellen Dorothy “Doris” Barry Donahue, wife of Jerry Donahue, died peacefully at the Mount Saint Joseph Nursing Home Miramichi on Saturday, April 6, 2019.
She was a member of the Sodality of the Children of Mary, December 8, 1950, and was also a chartered member of the Santa Maria.
Born in Chatham, a proud Hiller, on June 23, 1935, to the late Richard and Emma (Myers) Barry.
Doris was also deceased by her brothers Robert Barry and Thomas Barry, and by her sisters Betty Kingston and Mary Barry.
Doris was a lifetime resident of Chatham; and it was there she raised her family and welcomed many friends, family and neighbours into her home.
The teapot was always on at 26 St. Thomas Street. Doris was very proud of her grandchildren and took great interest in all their endeavours.
She is survived by her husband Jerry, and her children Danny; Jane (Richard Butler) and their children Joseph, James and Jonathan; Troy (Carla Crawford) and their son Sean; all of Miramichi; Jackie and her children Emma and Paul Hayes of Quispamsis; and Geraldine (Andrew Donovan) and their son Thomas of Miramichi.
In addition, Doris is survived by her siblings Jack (Lillian) Barry; Art (Suzanne) Barry; Junior (late Norma); Joe (Donna) Barry; Ron (Paula) Barry; Terry (Mary Catherine) Barry; Greg (Susanne) Barry; Brent (Lila) Barry; Adele (Tom Wright); Judy (Bob Mackenzie); and Linda Barry, all of Miramichi. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Maher’s Funeral Home Miramichi, 35 University Avenue, on Monday, April 8 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.
Funeral services will be held at St. Michaels Basilica on Tuesday, April 9 at 11 am.
