Clara Mary Wood born April 20, 1928 in Ottawa Ontario, passed away April 19 (Good Friday), just shy of her 91st birthday. A homemaker for her husband and six children, seamstress and upholsterer, Park Superintendent for Britannia Park and Ward Clerk at the Ottawa Civic Hospital for many years, where she was affectionately known as “Woody” by everyone. When Mary lost her husband George to illness in 1976, she lovingly fulfilled the role of both Mother and Father. Mom was our friend, counsel, confidant, rock, and our hero! Mom will be profoundly missed.
Mary was predeceased by her Husband George Wood, son John, baby daughter Catherine, parents Louis Turner and Clara Boegel, her siblings Eileen, Kass, Chloe, Rita, Theresa, John, Joseph, and Louis. She is survived by her children Robert Wood (Mary Ann), Bruce Wood (Judy), Diana Wood-Campbell (Bruce), Chris Wood (Brenda Clarke), Lyn Ferguson (Vernon), Katherine Jensen (daughter-in-law and wife of John), her grandchildren, Matthew, Andrew, Christopher, Jamielyn, Galen, Amy, Michael, Robin, Danica, and her 13 Great Grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 26, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the Pinecrest Remembrance Chapel, 2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa. Reception to follow.
