Lucien and Joanne Verschuere 2019

Obituary of Lucien and Joanne Verschuere
It is with great sadness, that we announce the passing of our dad Lucien Eduard Verschuere.
On a beautiful, sunny, Sunday April 28, 2019, he was taken home in his 85th year (Born: February 21, 1934).
Lucien visited Canada a couple of times in the 1950’s, from his homeland of Belgium, before marrying his love, the late Joanne Verschuere on June 18, 1960.
Their love continued to blossom with 5 children, Levada (Doug Thurlbeck), Teresa (Tim Walker), Lucienne (Doug Balentine), Victor Verschuere, Monique (Spencer Kyte).
The family has continued to grow with 10 grandchildren and 7 great grand children.
Lou, Granup, Poppa, Grandpa as many knew him, provided for his family for many years as a truck driver and sidelined as a taxi cab owner back in the late 1960’s to early 1970’s; operating under the name of Glen Taxi.
During his off time, which was usually a Sunday, you could hear the music at the Verschuere’s from a mile away. Either, he was playing his trumpet (which he loved and played in many bands) or just listening to his records.
After finally retiring from the truck, dad filled his time at the mall scratching his tickets with a coffee or socialized playing cards, where he met some great friends.
He will be fondly remembered and forever missed by all.
As mom and dad had both asked not to have a formal funeral; a very simple service will be held at the graveside.
Mom who passed away on November 15, 2016 and Dad will be interned into the Crematorium wall at the Greenwood Cemetery on King Street, Georgetown at 2 pm on Saturday May 4, 2019.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Lucien and Joanne Verschuere 2019..
